Held from February 24th to March 6th, Hudson Classical Theater Company, known for reinvigorating classical works, presented their adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice!

Full of excitement, humor, and romance, audience members enjoyed this enduring love story from Jane Austen where the fate of five Bennet sisters depends on an advantageous marriage. The costumes, the dancing, and superb artistry of the production swept audiences away to Regency England!

Women’s Work: The Challenge of Making our Mark –the W.H.A.M. Art Exhibit 2022 – presents a group exhibition of artwork from 19 women from Tuesday, March 2nd – Thursday, March 31st.

Stone Soup Cooking Class with Farm Arts Collective was held on March 5th. This event was a live theatrical cooking show for families that makes cooking with seasonal veggies fun and accessible for all!

Chef-actors, Jess Beveridge and Tannis Kowalchuk prepared 4 farm fresh dishes with a sprinkle of song, dance, and an assortment of veggies.

A Book Chat with author Sophie Brickman was held on March 8, 2022, at 6 PM.

Baby, Unplugged: One Mother’s Search for Balance, Reason, and Sanity in the Digital Age is a candid, often hilarious search for balance, reason, and sanity in the age of tech-driven parenting.

Held on March 16, Laura Caparrotti told the fascinating story of Adelaide Ristori (January 29, 1822 – October 9, 1906), the first real Italian Diva, known and venerated worldwide.

Held on March 18th, female voices celebrated their love and sensual adventures through the diverse interpretations of lovers songs from Penelope and the Geese.

With Adriana Valdés, Alma Mićić, Joy Jan Jones, Kamala Sankaram, Lauri Galbreath, Lili Ostojić Gibson, Melanie Mitrano-Duffy, Milica Paranosic, Shelly Watson, and hey, why not you, our beloved audience!

Held on March 19, City Stories of the Upper West Side and Beyond celebrated new and familiar places, pleasures, and possibilities.

Audience members discovered new joys and memories in this prose and poetry reading about urban life. Three urban writers shared their Gotham stories.

Held on March 23, Goddard Riverside had an exciting conversation with Annette Bay Pimental, the winner of the 2021 Goddard Riverside CBC Youth Book Prize for Social Justice, about her book Pura’s Cuentos: How Pura Belpre Reshaped Libraries with Her Stories.  

The book captures the exuberant spirit and passion of Pura Belpré: celebrated storyteller, author and folklorist, and the first Latina librarian in New York City.

Held on March 24th, Baggage from BaghDAD was a gripping one-woman show about an inspirational journey that mirrors today’s growing intolerance of race, religion, and sexual orientation.

Thank you to all who joined us virtually to learn more about the special youth arts education initiative that proceeds from the W.H.A.M. Festival help make possible! The Performing Arts Conservatory Celebration presented by Conservatory co-artistic director Michelle Cave took place on Saturday, March 26th at 2 PM.

Program participants past, present, and future — and their family and friends — had a chance to connect and celebrate the creativity, dedication, and impact that makes the Conservatory such a unique experience.

Held on March 29th, Women at the Cross Roads: Senior Stories was made possible by producer, writer, and filmmaker Caytha Jentis of Fox Meadow Films.

Audience members enjoyed a diverse collection of older female writers and artists sharing their personal stories.

In this Moth-style format, artists delivered monologues on themes of life, laughter, love, and everything in between!

Soprano Cheryl Warfield presented “A Tribute Concert to Leontyne Price,” the trailblazing operatic soprano in an evening concert of arias live-streamed from Chicago on March 30th.

The virtual opera concert paid homage to legendary Prima Donna Assoluta Leontyne Price in a program of arias by Verdi and Puccini combined with a dramatic narrative based on the life and career of Leontyne Price.

Held on March 31st, a staged reading of GLOBAL EXCURSIONS by Maxine Kern.

Suddenly fainting on a subway platform between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street, Lily takes an unexpected “Global Excursion.” Her mind bridges the past and presents it “unspools” like an old-fashioned movie reel.
